The Tobacco Root Geological Society is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the study of geology of the Northern Rocky Mountain Province.

Want to join the Tobacco Root Geological Society?

It's simple, just click here and print this page and mail it with your check. Annual Dues are $25 for Professionals and $5 for students. Your dues entitle you to a copy of Northwest Geology, which contains the annual TRGS conference Proceedings, Guidebook and Field Trip Logs. The membership year is May 1 to April 30, so if you join in April, you'll get the previous year's guidebook unless you tell us you want to apply your membership to the following year that begins May 1.

2013: Salmon, Idaho


Joint Meeting with The Belt Association
Date: July 31-August 4, 2013

Tentative list of field trips and presentations,
and call for papers (PDF)

Full-day and half-day field trips from Salmon are now being solicited. Although the meeting will focus on the Belt Supergroup, field trips on any geologic topic are encouraged. Please contact Reed Lewis (reedl@uidaho.edu) with the title of the field trip. Field guides and papers will be due no later than May 1, 2013 and should be sent to Reed Lewis.
PLEASE READ Editorial Requirements (PDF) - papers not meeting requirements will not be printed.

2014: The meeting has been set for Colville, Washington.

2014 Scholarship Application Information
2014 Scholarship Deadline: February 15, 2014.

2013 Field Scholarship Awards

The TRGS is pleased to be able to award 12 scholarships this year, totaling $7,000, thanks to donations, sales, and investment performance. Scholarship amounts ranged from $200 to $1,000 for the Scholars.
